Have you ever gone online and looked at dozens of websites in planning your vacation only to get there and found that the pictures on the website were not exactly current? Were the services you received not quite what you expected? You may have said to yourself, “Next time, I will use a travel agent.“ The concept of Senior Referral Agent focused on assisted living options in Tucson is similar.
Adult Care Hunters, LLC is locally owned with 30 years of experience in all areas of senior care. ACH is a full-service agency that helps narrow down the best independent living or assisted living options for seniors over the age of 65. How do we know where the best places are? Because I’ve been there. I pre-screen the communities and maintain a presence. I have kept track of changes in management, availability, amenities, and rates over the years.
My wealth and knowledge about Arizona state guidelines and regulations will assist in determining which level of care is the best fit for your loved one.
From small locally owned Assisted Living Homes, who care for 10 residents, to large, luxurious centers that serve over 300 residents. We specialize in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other dementia care. Does your loved one have challenging behaviors? No problem, I know which memory care communities can manage this. Your loved one's safety and care is my top priority. ACH is well-versed in Long term care insurance, Arizona Long Term Care System and the VA. We can narrow down the resources based on your specifics and budget.
There is no charge to my clients: Adult Care Hunters receives a referral fee from the community selected, when you contact me first. ACH is not a listing agency, meaning I will not e-mail or mail you a list of places to check out on your own. I accompany you to look at the best options; I make sure all of your questions are being answered. You also won’t receive a hard sales pitch from the care home's marketing team because they know you are with an agent. I am hands-on, I service Pima County and sub-contract with another company for Maricopa County.
Do I work with every community? No. I select only the best and represent the best. I monitor and track county certifications and reporting, property ownership, management and staff changes. I am out in the field, continuously speaking with (and listening to) industry colleagues and contacts. I also remain in touch with and visit my senior clients and their families.
My goal is to save you time and money and most importantly, to give you peace of mind that you have selected the best possible place for your loved one.
NO. If you or someone you know is considering independent or assisted living, call me first. I can help you. If nothing else, I will point you in the right direction and provide you with free tips to help you determine what you need. My purpose is to assist all seniors in need of finding alternatives to living at home.
VISION: to educate seniors and their families on the options and resources available in the area.
MISSION : to assist clients and families when they are faced with life changing events. To use or knowledge and compassion to guide people in making the best possible decision regarding where their loved ones should live.
I respect and appreciate all of the caregivers in the communities I work with. I honor our elderly clients as well as their family members and strive to work closely with the health care community for the best possible outcome for my clients. My goal is not to be the biggest referral service but rather to provide excellent customer service to each one of my senior clients and their families.
Client Example 1: A 95 year-old gentleman, living alone in his Tucson home. He had a housekeeper who visited every day to cook and clean. This senior had no family in Tucson; his short term memory was severely impaired, he was able to walk, shower and dress by himself. He did not know what day it is, what city he was in, or where he lives. This gentleman began to look for his car. He left his house, wandered away and was picked up by neighbors who were able to bring him home. A few days later he locked himself out of his house, the locksmiths were called in.
Adult Care Hunters assessed the gentleman in his home, showed him some assisted living options, which he did not agree to. This gentleman was no longer able to make decisions for himself; he had no insight into his deficits. Adult Care Hunters was in contact with out of state family and directed them to work with an Elder Law Attorney to obtain guardianship. Once guardianship was in place, Adult Care Hunters was able to have the gentleman admitted into a secured memory community which was of the caliber he was accustomed to. We also directed the family to a reputable moving company who able packed his belongings and moved his furniture. Adult Care Hunters then made several follow up visits with the gentleman and contacted the family with updates.

These may be a free standing community that only offers only assisted living, or may be a part of a larger independent living community. Assisted Living Centers are licensed and inspected by the State of Arizona/Department of Health Services.
A center is any assisted living facility licensed to care for 11 or more individuals. Assisted Living Centers allow for individuals who are in need of healthcare to maintain some independence in the privacy of their own apartment while having caregivers available 24 hours per day.
Centers are licensed at three different levels of care:
• Supervisory
• Personal
• Directed
The type of care an individual center can provide is determined by the level of their license. Apartments vary in size ranging from 250 sq. ft. to 800 sq. ft. and residents are encouraged to furnish the apartment with their own furniture and belongings. They include kitchenettes and individually controlled temperature units.
Included in the Monthly Rent:

ASSISTED LIVING HOMES
These are licensed by the State of Arizona and provide 24 hour care at 3 levels: Supervisory, Personal and Directed. 3 meals per day are provided, plus snacks, laundry, housekeeping, and all personal care.
All medications that are administered must be on physician’s orders and are securely kept, logged and dispensed by caregivers. Assisted Living Home managers usually manage the medication boxes and can be delivered by a pharmacy.
Most homes do not provide transportation to medical appointments. Private arrangements can be made.
The staff is very attentive because they have no more than 10 residents in a home.
A bed, night stand and a lamp are furnished. You are able to provide your own furniture if you choose. You are allowed to hang up pictures and bring personal belongings.
The month-to-month contract fees is usually an all inclusive rate with the exception of a care plan, medications and supplies. Most people find this to be a financially more feasible option than nursing homes.
1. Establish a Price Range. Do I really need 900 sq ft?
2. Do I prefer a “Resort style” where everything is under one roof or is an open/outdoor campus more my style?
3. Is a higher level of care available should the need arise?
4. Can I get those services in my apartment or will I have to move?
5. What is my time frame? Do I plan on moving in 3-6 months, 6 months to a year, or more than one year? Consider current incentives. Wait list options.
6. Compare what is included in your base rent: housekeeping, maintenance, transportation, meal service, utilities, events, security. Is their a discount available for services I may not need or want?
7. How often does the rent increase, what is the percentage?
8. Are guest suites available, or are over night guests allowed in my apt.? For how long?
9. Is transportation available outside the service area: what's the additional cost?
10. What are the residents like? What is the atmosphere like? Can I see myself living here? Have you visited more than once? Have you tried the food? Other than the Marketing team what other staff members have you met? Does the staff have a high turnover or is there longevity among the key staff?

- Maryanne with Adult Care Hunters was fantastic. Initially we just needed temporary home care at night for which she gave us references, one of which we chose and it worked out well. But then next day we needed hospice and an adult care center for that day. Maryanne coordinated both for us. What she set up could not have been better. I highly recommend her and her company. -R.H. ,Tucson, AZ
